What is FastCAT?
FastCAT is an offshoot of another historic sport that was designed for sighthounds, called Coursing. In Coursing, those specific breeds of dogs would chase a mechanical lure across a massive, open field with many twists and turns with the goal of seeing whose the fastest and letting them satiate their bred-in hunting drive without harming fuzzy little critters in the process.
Coursing was initially only open to sight hound breeds (and some organizations and title levels are still that way), but many other breeds of dogs also enjoy the chase so FastCAT was born!
FastCAT is a single straight-leg, 100 yard dash where the dogs chase that same lure that the sight hounds chase in coursing. We use mechanical timers at the start and finish lines that trip when the dogs cross them so we know exactly how fast your dog ran!
FastCAT is run individually, so its great for dogs who may not enjoy sharing the track with others. Each breed even has their own national rankings to judge who is the fastest of the fast!

Our fun runs are a great way to dip your toe into FastCAT, help build confidence on the track, let puppies gain experience in a safe way. exercise and condition your dog, and troubleshoot any snafus. Practicing makes everyone better, faster, and stronger! Your dog can even win prizes!
